The paper contains an analysis of the function of the agricultural stone tools from the excavation at Shilaodun. It was found that there were many types of agricultural tools present, for example, those used for felling trees, planting seeds, and ploughing , cultivating ,or harvesting crops, and so on. These tools belonged to two different sets of stone tools used for farming, one reflected the using-reamer and-fire agriculture, another reflected the using-toe agriculture. In addition, the article includes an investigation of the rise of agriculture in the Guangdong Region.
