This study,taking the library in Henan University of Urban Construction for an example,points out that constant elements in the evaluation system of architecture are its "skeleton" and "spirit",that is,"space" and "spirit of place".Through analyzing the significant role of space in modern architecture and the appeal of spirit of place to construction users,it is explained that space and spirit of place are closely related and mutually dependent.
