A new technique was developed for the conversion of high titania slag, containing 70%-75% TiO2 and with MgO,FeO,CaO,Al2O3 and SiO2 as main impurities, into a synthetic rutile,90%-95% TiO2,which satisfies the requirements for fluidizing chlorination process with respect to impurity contents. After a pre-oxidation at around 1 042 ℃ and a heat-treatment above 1 510 ℃,the Ti components in high titania slag can be enriched into the rutile phase which can precipitate and grow, and can be separated with dilute hydrochloric and sulfuric acid, respectively. The results show that the average crystal size of rutile phase is over 25 μm,and the synthetic rutile containing more than 95% TiO2 can be produced by selective leaching.
The adsorption isotherm of sodium polyacrylate on dicalcium silicate(2CaO-SiO2) in sodium aluminate solution at 80 ℃ was studied. The type of surface adsorption of sodium polyacrylate is saturated adsorption, and the adsorption behavior belongs to L-type,according with the monolayer adsorption model of Langmuir equation. The surface coverage of sodium polyacrylate is 1.06 mol/μm2.The relation curve between the surface pressure and the molecular area of adsorption film was obtained by Gibbs formula. The variation of interfacial energy caused by adsorption as well as the relationship between the relation curve and the type of adsorption was discussed.
The formation characteristics of calcium aluminates in the CaO-Al2O3-SiO2 system with sodium oxide was investigated by XRD, SEM-EDS and DSC-TG technologies. The main phases in the clinker after sintering at 1350 °C are 12CaO?7Al2O3, 2CaO?Al2O3?SiO2 and 2CaO?SiO2 when the mass ratio of Al2O3 to SiO2 is 3.0 and the molar ratio of CaO to Al2O3 is 1.0. The proportion of 12CaO?7Al2O3 increases with the increase of Na2O addition when the molar ratio of Na2O to Al2O3 is from 0 to 0.4, while the proportion of 2CaO?Al2O3?SiO2 decreases with the increase of Na2O addition. Na2O forms solid solution in 12CaO?7Al2O3, which increases the volume of elementary cell of 12CaO?7Al2O3. The formation temperature of 12CaO?7Al2O3 is decreased by 30 °C when the molar ratio of Na2O to Al2O3 increases from 0 to 0.4 determined by DSC. The alumina leaching property of clinker increases obviously with the increase of Na2O addition.
