By looking back at the evolution of economic cooperation in the Asia Pacific region,the authors assert that competition over different paths towards regional economic integration are actually fights over the guiding principles of economic cooperation and development.They are fights between favoring"open regionalism"or"competitive liberalization."The TPP and the RCEP are the clearest manifestations of this competition.
