Through quantitative research, this article studies the correlation of anxiety and self-confidence with English achievements. It is found that anxiety is negatively and closely related to English achievements, whereas self-confidence is positively related. Among dictation, listening, writing, vocabulary and grammar, cloze and reading, dictation and listening are the two skills most closely affected by trait anxiety and self-confidence, so it is vital for teachers to help students reduce anxiety and strengthen confidence while teaching. In this article suggestions on that to do in class are also presented.
