After the preparation of 1,4-bis(4,5-dihydro-lH-imidazol-2-yl)benzene(bdib), a nitrogen heterocycle with potential coordination manners of both cis- and trans-configuration forms, three complexes, including cis-[Cuz(bdib )2(/L-OCH3)2]Cl2·2MeOH(1), trans-[Cu(bdib)(AcO)2]n(2), and cis-[Ag2(bdib)2](NO3)2.2H20(3), were successfully self-assembled. Complexes 1 and 2 crystallized in the monoclinic system with P21/n space group and complex 3 in the triclinic system with P1 space group.

Both a persulfide crystal of L-L(1), the oxidative coupling product of l-phenyl-lH-tetrazole-5-thiol(HL), and a neutral copper(1) complex of Cu6L6(2) were self-assembled and their crystal architectures were characterized by CCD method. HL was converted into the persulfide L-L(1) over a metalloporphyrin catalyst with enzymatic characters under ambient conditions. Whlie in the crystal architecture of Cu6L6(2), 6 copper(1) ions were ligated by 6L anions to construct a Cu6 ring, which just resembled the chair configuration of cyclohexane. Notably, both compounds 1 and 2 exhibit strong photoluminescence in solid state.
1 Introduction Rosolic acid, also called as resinous acid, is a trihydroxyphenyl methane dye mainly used as an oxidation resistant indicator in acid-base titration with sharp color change depending on the pH, from 5.0(yellow) to 6.8(pink). It is also used as an initial reactant in the syntheses of 4,4',4"-tris(acyloxy)trityl chloride and its bromide for protection of primary hydroxyl groups, and a monomer in polyreaction to prepare color polymer fiber as pH probe.

Three crystal architectures, including one organic compound of benzoyl peroxide(Ⅰ) and two clusters of tri-iron(Ⅲ) and bi-cupper(Ⅱ) with benzoic ligands(2 and 3), were self-assembled by an in situ redox way of benzoyl peroxide oxidants reacting with Mo, Fe and Cu powders, respectively. X-ray crystallographic results show that both the asymmetry tri-iron(Ⅲ) cluster and the benzoylperoxide crystal architecture(2 and 1) with complicated 3D networks were constructed by intermolecular hydrogen-bonding interactions. Contrarily, the symmetrical bi-copper(Ⅱ) cluster crystal architecture(3), only with π-π stacking between paralleled phenyl groups and without any intermolecular hydrogen-bonding interactions, only presented an 1D zigzag chain along the a-axis.
