An element-free Galerkin (EFG) method for generalized Fisher equations (GFE)

A generalized Fisher equation(GFE) relates the time derivative of the average of the intrinsic rate of growth to its variance.The exact mathematical result of the GFE has been widely used in population dynamics and genetics,where it originated.Many researchers have studied the numerical solutions of the GFE,up to now.In this paper,we introduce an element-free Galerkin(EFG) method based on the moving least-square approximation to approximate positive solutions of the GFE from population dynamics.Compared with other numerical methods,the EFG method for the GFE needs only scattered nodes instead of meshing the domain of the problem.The Galerkin weak form is used to obtain the discrete equations,and the essential boundary conditions are enforced by the penalty method.In comparison with the traditional method,numerical solutions show that the new method has higher accuracy and better convergence.Several numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the method.

A control method applied to mixed traffic flow for the coupled-map car-following model被引量:2

In light of previous work [Phys. Rev. E 60 4000(1999)], a modified coupled-map car-following model is proposed by considering the headways of two successive vehicles in front of a considered vehicle described by the optimal velocity function. The non-jam conditions are given on the basis of control theory. Through simulation, we find that our model can exhibit a better effect as p = 0.65, which is a parameter in the optimal velocity function. The control scheme, which was proposed by Zhao and Gao, is introduced into the modified model and the feedback gain range is determined. In addition,a modified control method is applied to a mixed traffic system that consists of two types of vehicle. The range of gains is also obtained by theoretical analysis. Comparisons between our method and that of Zhao and Gao are carried out, and the corresponding numerical simulation results demonstrate that the temporal behavior of traffic flow obtained using our method is better than that proposed by Zhao and Gao in mixed traffic systems.

The time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau equation for the two-velocity difference model

A thermodynamic theory is formulated to describe the phase transition and critical phenomenon in traffic flow.Based on the two-velocity difference model,the time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau (TDGL) equation under certain condition is derived to describe the traffic flow near the critical point through the nonlinear analytical method.The corresponding two solutions,the uniform and the kink solutions,are given.The coexisting curve,spinodal line and critical point are obtained by the first and second derivatives of the thermodynamic potential.The modified Korteweg de Vries (mKdV) equation around the critical point is derived by using the reductive perturbation method and its kink-antikink solution is also obtained.The relation between the TDGL equation and the mKdV equation is shown.The simulation result is consistent with the nonlinear analytical result.

Element-free Galerkin (EFG) method for analysis of the time-fractional partial differential equations

The present paper deals with the numerical solution of time-fractional partial differential equations using the element-free Galerkin (EFG) method, which is based on the moving least-square approximation. Compared with numerical methods based on meshes, the EFG method for time-fractional partial differential equations needs only scattered nodes instead of meshing the domain of the problem. It neither requires element connectivity nor suffers much degradation in accuracy when nodal arrangements are very irregular. In this method, the first-order time derivative is replaced by the Caputo fractional derivative of order α (0 < α≤ 1). The Galerkin weak form is used to obtain the discrete equations, and the essential boundary conditions are enforced by the penalty method. Several numerical examples are presented and the results we obtained are in good agreement with the exact solutions.

The Korteweg-de Vires equation for the bidirectional pedestrian flow model considering the next-nearest-neighbor effect被引量:1

This paper focuses on a two-dimensional bidirectional pedestrian flow model which involves the next-nearestneighbor effect. The stability condition and the Korteweg-de Vries(KdV) equation are derived to describe the density wave of pedestrian congestion by linear stability and nonlinear analysis. Through theoretical analysis, the soliton solution is obtained.

A meshless method based on moving Kriging interpolation for a two-dimensional time-fractional diffusion equation被引量:4

Fractional diffusion equations have been the focus of modeling problems in hydrology, biology, viscoelasticity,physics, engineering, and other areas of applications. In this paper, a meshfree method based on the moving Kriging interpolation is developed for a two-dimensional time-fractional diffusion equation. The shape function and its derivatives are obtained by the moving Kriging interpolation technique. For possessing the Kronecker delta property, this technique is very efficient in imposing the essential boundary conditions. The governing time-fractional diffusion equations are transformed into a standard weak formulation by the Galerkin method. It is then discretized into a meshfree system of time-dependent equations, which are solved by the standard central difference method. Numerical examples illustrating the applicability and effectiveness of the proposed method are presented and discussed in detail.

基于Konishi等的研究工作,提出了涉及前方两辆车车头间距的优化速度函数的耦合映射跟驰模型.采用反馈控制方法,研究了耦合映射跟驰模型中的交通拥堵控制.利用反馈控制理论,给出了头车速度发生变化时交通流保持稳定的条件,并与Konishi等得到的结果进行了比较.数值模拟结果表明,所提出的模型在经典的反馈控制方法下描述的交通拥堵现象得到了有效抑制.

A lattice traffic model with consideration of preceding mixture traffic information

In this paper,the lattice model is presented,incorporating not only site information about preceding cars but also relative currents in front.We derive the stability condition of the extended model by considering a small perturbation around the homogeneous flow solution and find that the improvement in the stability of traffic flow is obtained by taking into account preceding mixture traffic information.Direct simulations also confirm that the traffic jam can be suppressed efficiently by considering the relative currents ahead,just like incorporating site information in front.Moreover,from the nonlinear analysis of the extended models,the preceding mixture traffic information dependence of the propagating kink solutions for traffic jams is obtained by deriving the modified KdV equation near the critical point using the reductive perturbation method.
