This article studies multi-constraints least-cost multicast routing problem in internet protocol over dense wavelength division multiplexing (IP/DWDM) networks. To address this problem, an individual-difference-based quantum genetic algorithm (IDQGA) is proposed. This algorithm considers individual differences among chromosomes by introducing an adaptive rotation angle step determination scheme and a grouping-based quantum mutation operation. Simulations are conducted over network topologies. The results indicate that compared with other heuristic algorithms, IDQGA has better optimal performance on solving quality of service (QoS) multicast routing problem in IP/DWDM networks and is characterized by strong robustness, high success ratio and excellent capability on global searching.
As one of the most promising next-generation access network (EPON) should pay more attention to its quality of service (QoS), techniques, the user-oriented Ethernet passive optical network However, now the EPON adopts mostly differentiated services model (Diffserv) that only provides quality control on traffic aggregation, whereas, the quality of user session cannot be guaranteed when the network is overloaded with substantial connections. This article proposes to apply integrated services model (Intserv) in Diffserv-based EPON, which uses per-flow processing to guarantee QoS. In the simulation, a framework of combined Diffserv and Intserv model is employed in an EPON system, with a dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm that adapts to it. The simulation results demonstrate that the EPON system with the combined models can provide more flexible, various control for user-oriented service quality.
National R&D activities on optical switching networkare introduced. Optical switching network testbedswere established in China including 3T-net andOBS ring and mesh network test-bed with the supportof national '863' program. As an importantmodule in OPS network, a novel all-optical serialmulticast mode is discussed.
Indoor visible light communication (VLC) based on next generation environmentally friendly lighting is important in energy conservation. However, at present, the efficient characterization of VLC channels, including sophisticated reflection, has not yet been proposed. In this letter, we present a fast and comparably accurate channel characterization algorithm called independent reflecting element interaction characterization (IREIC), which can be used to describe optical power, illuminance, and impulse response.
We obtain the photonic bands and intrinsic losses for the triangular lattice three-component two- dimensional (2D) photonic crystal (PhC) slabs by expanding the electromagnetic field on the basis of waveguide modes of an effective homogeneous waveguide. The introduction of the third component into the 2D PhC slabs influences the photonic band structure and the intrinsic losses of the system. We examine the dependences of the band gap width and gap edge position on the interlayer dielectric constant and interlayer thickness. It is found that the gap edges shift to lower frequencies and the intrinsic losses of each band decrease with the increasing interlayer thickness or dielectric constant. During the design of the real PhC system, the effect of unintentional native oxide surface layer on the optical properties of 2D PhC slabs has to be taken into consideration. At the same time, intentional oxidization of macroporous PhC structure can be utilized to optimize the design.
This article discusses the issue of resource conflict in the generalized multi-protocol label switching (GMPLS) controlled optical network. Based on the analysis of the current random rebuilding mechanism and its drawbacks, this article presents two enhanced solutions for improvement, namely, the priority-based resource allocation mechanism and the network management system (NMS) based sequential resource allocation mechanism. Experimental results show that the presented mechanisms perform better than the original random rebuilding solution in terms of the connection setup/recovery time and successful rate.
