A dynamic optical arbitrary waveform generator based on cross phase modulation

In this paper, a dynamic optical arbitrary waveform generator(OAWG) based on cross phase modulation(XPM) is proposed. According to the characteristics of XPM, the nonlinear phase shift of signal can be changed along with the pump power. The amplitude of signal can be changed by controlling the phase shift at one arm of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer(MZI) using XPM effect between signal and pump. Therefore, the phase and amplitude of the optical frequency comb(OFC) can be controlled by two pump arrays. As a result, different kinds of waveforms can be synthesized. Due to the ultrafast response of XPM, the generated waveform could be dynamically updated with an ultrafast frequency. The waveform fidelity is affected by the updating frequency.

An optical modulation format generation scheme based on spectral filtering and frequency-to-time mapping

An optical modulation format generation scheme based on spectral filtering and frequency-to-time mapping is experimentally demonstrated. Many modulation formats with continuously adjustable duty radio and bit rate can be formed by changing the dispersion of dispersion element and the bandwidth of shaped spectrum in this scheme. In the experiment, non-return-to-zero(NRZ) signal with bit rate of 29.41 Gbit/s and 1/2 duty ratio return-to-zero(RZ) signal with bit rate of 13.51 Gbit/s are obtained. The maximum bit rate of modulation format signal is also analyzed.

双边调制布拉格波导光栅的特性研究被引量:2

设计了一种一次性制备双边调制布拉格波导光栅的新方法。通过周期性改变波导的宽度实现波导光栅的空间调制,其优势是利用波导的制备工艺将波导及光栅一次性制备,工艺简单。基于转移矩阵理论,研究了该结构的波导光栅反射谱特性与波导宽度、波导宽度差、光栅占空比及波导宽度变化的形状的关系。结果表明,双边调制比皱阶调制3 d B带宽明显变大,最大反射率稍有增大。当波导宽度差不变时,随波导宽度增大,最大反射率和零值带宽都随之减小。当波导宽度不变时,随波导宽度差增大,最大反射率和零值带宽都随之增大。当波导宽度与波导宽度差均不变时,光栅占空比为1/2时最大反射率最高,零值带宽最大。且波导宽度差足够大时,可通过改变占空比来改变零值带宽。波导变化的形状对波导光栅的反射谱性能影响较小。

多参量可调谐的Bragg波导光栅滤波器设计(英文)被引量:3

为了解决基于光纤布喇格光栅和压电陶瓷结构的任意光脉冲整形器在动态调谐时存在不足的问题,提出并设计了一种波长、相位、幅度参量独立可调的Bragg波导光栅滤波器,以实现谐振波长及谐振波相位快速独立的线性调控.理论分析表明:波长和相位的理论调谐效率分别为15.6pm/V和0.2π/V,滤波器的输出光强度可以通过偏振旋转器控制.基于转移矩阵理论的仿真分析发现:该滤波器在蚀刻占空比为1/2时反射率最大,光栅长度为10.869mm,蚀刻深度大于100nm时,可以获得98.4%以上的反射率和大于0.14nm的带宽;增大波长调谐电压会进一步降低滤波带宽.

Humidity and temperature sensor based on GOQDs-PVA coated tapered no-core fiber combined with FBG

A simple structure optical fiber sensor for relative humidity(RH) and temperature measurement is proposed and verified in this paper, which is based on graphene oxide quantum dots and polyvinyl alcohol(GOQDs-PVA) composite coated tapered no-core fiber(NCF) combined with a fiber Bragg grating(FBG). FBG is insensitive to humidity and sensitive to temperature, which is used to compensate temperature of the sensor. Experimental results show this sensor has humidity sensitivity of 143.27 pm/%RH ranging from 30%RH to 80%RH and the temperature sensitivity of 9.21 pm/℃. The proposed sensor has advantages of simple structure, good repeatability, and good stability, which is expected to be used in both RH and temperature measurement in biological and chemical fields.

提出了一种基于单阵列FBG(光纤布拉格光栅)的任意波形产生装置。该装置包括光学频率梳产生部分和脉冲整形部分。在光学频率梳产生部分,利用自相位调制效应压缩拍频光得到光学频率梳;脉冲整形部分包括FBG阵列、偏振控制器、光纤拉伸器和偏振片。不同波长的谱线经过不同数量的偏振控制器后其偏振态各不相同,经过偏振片后各条谱线的幅度会发生不同程度的衰减。相位控制器通过改变光纤的长度改变谱线的相位。通过该结构进行实验并仿真,得到了频率为125GHz的类似三角波和高斯波的波形。

电控可调谐的正交偏振双波长滤波器的设计被引量:8

设计了一种基于铌酸锂晶体的电控可调谐波导光栅双波长滤波器。在可同时传输横电波(TE)和横磁波(TM)模式的钛扩散波导上刻写布拉格光栅,能够实现正交偏振的双波长滤波。利用铌酸锂的电光效应改变波导的有效折射率,可以实现两个布拉格波长的快速调谐。对波导光栅滤波性能的分析结果表明,蚀刻光栅在蚀刻坡度小于15°,蚀刻占空比为1/2时,滤波特性最好,且随着蚀刻深度的增加,光栅的反射率与带宽均增加。通过横向电场对波导光栅进行调谐,双波长滤波器的TE模式调谐灵敏度达到15.6 pm/V,TM模式的达到5.5 pm/V。

晶片与光刻胶温度差对波导损耗的影响被引量:9

研究了铌酸锂晶片与光刻胶之间的温度差对钛扩散铌酸锂波导传输损耗的影响。分别在高温度差和低温度差下制备了钛扩散铌酸锂波导,并对其进行了测量。对比实验结果表明,温度差相对较低时,可以得到较大的波导模场尺寸和较小的波导传输损耗。仿真结果显示,波导模场尺寸较大时,波导的传输损耗较小,与实验结果一致。

A band-pass microwave photonic filter based on Lyot- Sagnac filter and cascaded optical structures被引量:7

A band-pass microwave photonic filter(MPF)based on Lyot-Sagnac filter and two cascaded optical structures is demonstrated.In the experiment,a stabilized and tunable multi-wavelength optical source is obtained by slicing the broadband optical source(BOS)with a Lyot-Sagnac filter.A standard single-mode fiber(SMF)and a fiber ring resonator are cascaded to improve the mainlobe-to-sidelobe suppression ratio(MSSR)and Q-factor of the filter.The analysis shows that MSSR and Q-factor are improved by reducing the split ratio of the coupler or increasing the length of fiber in fiber ring resonator.The results have significant guidance for MPF design by choosing appropriate devices and parameters.Based on the analyses,a band-pass filter with MSSR of 53.54 dB and Q-factor of 4048 is achieved by choosing the split ratio of0.01,the length of SMF of 30 km and the length of fiber in fiber ring resonator of 152.27 cm.

Optical arbitrary waveform generation based on an array of tunable apodized waveguide Bragg gratings

A structure of optical arbitrary waveform generation(OAWG)based on an array of tunable apodized waveguide Bragg gratings(WBGs)is proposed.The WBGs array on lithium niobate(LN)consists of several apodized gratings,waveguides and electrodes deposited on both sides of gratings and waveguides.The properties of OAWG are analyzed using transfer matrix method.Due to the electro-optic effect of LN,the amplitude and phase of incident light source are controlled via adjusting the voltages on electrodes.Consequently,the optical pulses with different waveforms are obtained and the amplitude is linearly tuned.In addition,voltages compensating amplitude and phase distortion are demonstrated.
